'Denny Loves The Flat Tracks' & 'Those DarnCheaters'

I finally got to watch the race from Sunday. I wouldn't exactly call it a great race, but it was alright. Denny was able to hold off Jeff Gordon on the last lap, but I don't think he would have been able to hold him off for another one. I don't know if Jeff eased off a little bit as to not hit Denny too hard and spin him out, or if he just didn't hit him hard enough to do the 'spin to win' move. Only he knows for sure and he ain't going to admit he was trying to spin Denny out.

Denny seems to love the flat tracks like New Hampshire and Pocono. I wonder how well he'll do at Indy this year?

With all that New Hampshire was, one question that seems to be raised that didn't even take place on the track is, "are crew chiefs really suspended if the are still at the track and in communication with the drivers and their teams?"

An interesting article by
Jenna Fryer came out today where she states that the three suspended crew chiefs (Eury, Letarte, and Knaus) were all at the track and working with their teams either through computers, cell phones, and maybe even smoke signals (OK, I made that one up - but you never know with those Hendrick boys).

I have a suggestion, as part of their suspension have all of the suspended crew members report to a central meeting place close to their respected race shops during official NASCAR practice times, qualifying and during the race so that there will indeed be no communication between them and the team. NASCAR could even do this at the tracks too. We all know that the suspended members, especially the Crew Chiefs, will still go to the place where the race is being held even though they are not allowed in 'official' NASCAR areas. If that is the case, then have these people report to the NASCAR trailer whenever the cars are on the track (practice, qualifying, race) and NASCAR can monitor them right there so as to restrict their communication to their teams.

If a suspended crew member fails to report to the NASCAR trailer or designated meeting place 1 hour prior to the start of any on-track activity then the car that the person belongs to will be parked - yes even at the start of a race.

Or, NASCAR could just start suspending drivers instead of Crew Chiefs. If this were the case then Kyle Busch and Johnny Sauter would be sitting out the next few races.

The points loss part of the penalties can make a difference...ie- Junior is teetering in 12th place. The rest, suspensions and cash fines, are moot points.

How about another Canadian flag soon?

I don't think parking a top ranked driver will make the track owners or that driver's sponsors too happy. There would be hell to pay not only from them but fans also. And on top of it all, I think NASCAR would lose a whole lot more than what I only mentioned.
