Toyota, Car of Choice For Gibbs Next Year - KyleBusch

According to Joe Gibbs Racing there will be an important announcement made next Wednesday about what car manufacturer they will be using next year, and a JGR spokesperson was "adamant Friday that no deal had been signed between the Gibbs team and the Japanese car maker" - David Caraviello (nascar.com).

Now enter JGR's newest wheelman, the foot-in-mouth prone red headed step-child, Kyle Busch, who said on Friday "that team officials have told him the organization's long-awaited move from Chevrolet to Toyota is official" - David Caraviello (nascar.com). After that particular piece of info slipped out, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin were a little less forthcoming in their answers to the Toyota question, but neither driver went out of their way to deny it either.

But the hardest piece of evidence of JGR's move from Chevy to Toyota comes from me. When I was at the 2X rain-delayed race at Michigan 2 weeks ago I noticed that everything in the Tony Stewart souvenir haulers that had a GM/symbol or image of the Monte Carlo/Impala on it was on sale, while everything else was not.

To me that proved that the Toyota rumour was more than just a rumour, and Kyle Busch just re-affirmed that notion. All we need now is to wait until Wednesday for it to be 'officially' official.

Now for the real question, "If you are a Tony Stewart fan, will you still be a fan if he drives a Toyota Camry instead of a Chevrolet Monte Carlo?"

Maybe Coach Gibbs should reconsider the Shrub?

My guess is that you should never tell Shrubs a secret.

I'm a Tony Stewart fan, not a Chevrolet fan. I'd still be a fan even if he was driving a Yugo, although I doubt I'd have much to cheer about.

I'm a Dale Jr. fan, but I have also watched Tony Stewart for a number of years now, I guess you could say I am a Chevy fan too In NASCAR fan.

Personal I hope Tony isn't going to driving a Toyota, but he will still be Tony and I will watch him.

One thing, I asked that same question on my blog and I got a interesting comment, "No, he's been a Tony Stewart fan for years, but that draws the line."

Car manufacturers and numbers do matter to some fans and drivers including thios racing fan.

I think Denny Hamlin, Tony Stewart, and Kyle Busch will still kick tail even in Toyota cars. I think this day in age, a manufacturer's success is dependent on which teams are driving their stuff!

If Tony drove the Flinstones-mobile, I'd still be a fan. It is the driver I follow, not the make of the car or even the sponsor...and in Junior's case, not even the number.
