Hmmm ...

Well, testing started in Vegas today and unfortunately I can't talk about it because , "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!"

Briefly, here is what unfolded:

- Denny Hamlin, in his Toyota, put up the quickest time on a very windy track.

- There were only 3 Fords in the top 25; Kenseth in 3rd, Biffle in 22nd, and Kvapil in 25th.

- Not to be out done by Ford, Dodge only had 3 of their cars in the top 31; Sadler in 9th, Newman in 20th, and Busch in 31st.

- 8 of the top 25 are Toyotas, and 12 are Chevys.

I wonder if there is really some sand bagging by the Ford and Dodge teams, or if they are truly struggling on the speed charts.

One more interesting development that happened just recently is that Jacques Villeneuve and his long-time business manager Craig Pollock have parted ways. The split between the two seems to be amicable siting that Pollock wants to spend more time with his family in Monaco and not in North America for 36 racing weekends. Go here for the entire article.

Finally, and more importantly for you Stewart fans, how do you like the new paint?

I kinda like it. When I saw him testing in Daytona, that car flat looked fast.

"I wonder if there is really some sand bagging by the Ford and Dodge teams, or if they are truly struggling on the speed charts."

While "saving something" to use the kinder terminology for it, is a possibility it's also possible the new engines both Chevy and Toyota are running are that much superior than Fords and Dodges.

Dodge's new plant is coming on line later this season, not sure when Fords is.

I think the new paint is a vast improvement over the old model.

I kind of like Tony's new look also. Longer hair and scruffy beard fits him. Gives him the "I'm just a racer, not a corporate voice" look. It was really apparent during the media tour. The JGR group shot had about 6 guys, clean shaved with short cropped hair and then there was Tony. Nascars bad boy.

Dawg,
Glad you were able to get to testing - that must have been cool!

Marc,
Good point about the new power plants I wonder where Ford really is in their progam?

tsrfan,
I kind of like the new image Tony Stewart too.

badwheel,
I think I might be getting into your Champ Chump, & Sleepers gig. It looks interesting.

I love Tony's new paint scheme for this year. It's really sharp looking.
