Rolex 24 Hrs Has 3-Peat Winner

Chip Ganassi with Felix Sabates Racing wins it's third Rolex 24 Hour race at Daytona in a row. In a word, "Wow!"

Driver Juan Montoya won his second ever class victory and second ever overall win in just two starts at this race, while teammate Scott Pruett won his eighth Rolex 24 class victory and his third overall win in this race. The other two drivers in this car were NASCAR rookie of the year candidate Dario Franchitti and Memo Rojas who is Scott's regular teammate in this car for the Grand Am series. Franchitti is the only new member of this team from last year and he proved to be no slouch either.

One thing I noted, and thought was cheap, was that in the pre-race show on Fox they interviewed every driver of the car except Memo, they just walked past him to Montoya after they interviewed Pruett who was beside Memo, and then when they were done with Montoya they went back to Franchitti who was on the other side of Memo compared to Pruett. At least they said his name as they walked past him. Total BS as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, this year's edition of the Rolex 24 hour race did not disappoint. It did have some exciting moments, and the 01 car of Ganassi and Sabates was not as dominate as you might think. If it were not for a flat tire and broken suspension components on a competitor's car they would have finished second. The car in question, driven at times by AJ Allmendinger, still finished the race in 14th.
