NASCAR Nationwide Series Scotts Turf Builder 300 Open Race Thread

Hey everyone.  I think my computer problems are behind me - I hope anyway.  I know Jeff gluck is probably doing an Open Race Thread today too but I thought I'd put one up here as well, just in case he doesn't.  We haven't been able to hook up and talk because of my computer issues.

I don't have the starting order after the jump because they haven't finished qualifying yet.  I'm putting this up early because I have a full sched. today and I didn't want to forget doing it.  I'll try to be around for the race but I can't make any promises.  I'll be able to cath glimpses of the race throughout the day so hopefully I'll be able to post then too.

Hey what do you think about Aarron's cartoon (located a few posts below)?  I laughed when I saw it.  Too funny.

Take care race fans!

I think what Kevin Harvick did to Joey Logano during the last lap of this race was pretty uncalled for

I know that it’s Bristol and I’m usually one to believe that anything goes in the final few laps but this was rediculous. Kevin just drove in and knocked the hell out of him. Worse yet, this was for 5TH PLACE IN A NATIONWIDE RACE; it’s simply not worh it. He better hope that Logano doesn’t try to retaliate in a Cup event (and by the way the next three would be really good places to do it).

Also, it seems to me that Harvick pulls more of this stuff when he’s running well. Harvick’s best years in Cup have been 2001, 2003, 2006, 2008, and now it seems 2010 will join that list.

In early 2002, when Harvick was coming off a really impressive rookie year he jumped Greg Biffle’s car to “discuss” a late race crash at Bristol and then got suspended for a Cup race after pulling up to the Nascar hauler during a truck race.

In 2003 he got on top of Rickey Rudd’s car after a race at Richmond.

In 2008 he called Edwards a pansy for his actions in the race at Talladega. (This later resulted in a physical altercation)

Now that he’s running well again he calls Edwards a fake and pulls this move on Logano.

These examples are off the top of my head so I know I’m missing many but it just seems like Harvick pounds his chest a little too much when he’s running well. Anyone else see this?

Oh absolutely!

This is spot on.

Unfortunately, I think this will continue to happen to Logano until he learns to retaliate. Harvick came off like a pompous prick both with his actions on the track, and in his interview after. And it does seem to happen more often when he is having a good year instead of pouting like last year.

I missed the whole race

I was away and my flight got delayed for 4 hours and then I had to sit at the border for more than an hour so I missed the whole thing when I should have been home just before the green flag dropped. Sucks.

But I’ll be around for the Cup race today.

I agree with your point on Logano

If he doesn’t stand up for himself soom he’s going to get trampled.
