NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Kobalt Tools 500 | Atlanta Motor Speedway Open Race Thread

Hey all.  Today's open race thread is going to be a little different in that I'm going to provide you with the link to Jeff Gluck's open race thread too.  Feel free in posting either at Jeff's page or here, or even on both, which is what I'm going to be doing at times throughout the day.

Jeff and I are still working out this open race thread thing.  To be honest with you I haven't returned Jeff's email on the topic from Wednesday as I've been really busy this week so the ball is resting in my court on this as it were.  We'll have it all sorted out by next week for sure.

Anyway, look for the complete starting line-up after the jump.  See you on the other side (and at Jeff's page too).

And I would be in full support of at least a 1 race suspension.

The list of drivers that Carl has had run ins with is actually getting quite long

Kenseth a few years ago at Martinsville, Kyle Busch at Bristol, the fight in the garage with Harvick in 2008 and now this with Keselowski. (And that’s ust off the top of my head. There’s probably more)

This was such a stupid move by Edwards. THE NEXT TWO RACES ARE BRISTOL AND MARTINSVILLE. AKA: PERFECT TRACKS TO GET REVENGE. Instead this moron dumps Keselowski on the straightaway going a Buck 90 the same race he was involved in an incident with the 12 car. Ever hear that revenge is a dish best served cold?

I know this will probably be unpopular but I don’t want Nascar to penalize Edwards. If he wants to get in car crashing wars with people, the penalties will take care of themselves because a few DNF’s will cost you more points than a penalty or Nascar parking you. I don’t argee with what carl did but I’d rather see Nascar let the drivers police themselves.

Whew, and they say fans aren't emotional.

But please remember there are elementary school kids that follow this site. I know they probably say worse on the playground when the teachers aren’t in earshot, but we must set a standard. Please be aware that in the future comments using language like those written above will be deleted. Thanks.

Yeahm seriously..

What Carl did isn’t cool, but none of the language used by Pinchy up there was necessary. At all.

yeah… delete them already, mod.

Here's an interesting question that was kind of lost with all the stuff that happened at the end of the race.

If the Keslowski flip caution never comes out with three laps to go, does Montoya pass Busch?

I think we might have been in for a photo finish if that caution didn’t come out.

He was catching he at 0.2 seconds a lap and the margin was down to 0.6 with three to go

I think he would have caught him in the last corner.

Maybe Kurt would have been the car upsidedown.

yes, he does!

I think he does pass, because he was shaving time like crazy. I kept saying, no, no, won’t happen, but he kept getting faster.

Good stuff

While I understand it was controversial, I liked the crash and I liked what it brought to the race. There’s not enough rivalries these days, so… I don’t think the initial hit from Keslowski was intentional (in Atlanta and Talladega), but I do think Edwards owed him one.

Also, I always thought Edwards was soft as cotton. I was dead wrong! Its good, for me at least, to see someone flirt with their own image, which it seems as if he was doing yesterday.

Stuff a golden subway sandwich up keslowski’s ass! (Does that make sense?)

Amen

Between the end of last season and already in this one (specifically in the Nationwide Series), I have grown absolutely disgusted with Brad.

He has acted like a brazen, arrogant punk… both on the track and in front of the microphone. I’m glad Carl did what he did, and frankly I’m glad Brad ended up on his roof. That car was in absolutely NO danger of entering the stands.

I just hope it is over now. I think Keselowski has a lot of talent… once he grows up and stops acting like a cheap circa-2007 Kyle Busch, he will do quite well. No more retaliation. Hopefully lesson learned.

I think Carl did what 10 or 12 of the boys out there would love to do… I’d be interested to hear the radio chatter immediately after it happened.

by Hatfield on Mar 8, 2010 5:31 PM EST up reply actions

Quite honestly...

…I hope its not over. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt, driver, fan, or otherwise. But it seems like recent rivalries have been either forced or manufactured, and this could be the real deal.

I like battles, I like rivalries, and I like em’ at 190 mph!
