Tires are an important part of any race car, they are what connects the driver and his (in a non-gender specific meaning of the word) high priced race car to the track.
There is a lot for me to talk about regarding tires, so much so that I have to do this lesson in several parts. So let's start with the basics and build up from there. If clicking on the image doesn't enlarge it then click on this link to take you to the web-based graphic.

Especially on the eve before Indianapolis. Intentional.
Yes and No
Intentional yes, but not in the way that you mean – I wanted to start this Tire Series earlier but held off a little longer to fill in the void between races not because of the Indy tire mess 2 yrs ago.
