After a three-week hiatus, NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series will travel to the Monster Mile this Friday for the Lucas Oil 200. This race will be an exciting start to a three-series event weekend!
A win at Dover International Speedway is elusive at best and two is unheard of. No Truck Series drivers have visited Victory Lane more than once. But the drivers have undoubtedly been focusing on taming the Monster Mile during their time off.
Don’t think that the race date of Friday the 13this going to stop a Truck Series regular from getting lucky. It is commonplace at Dover for a driver to receive their first victory here. Five of the past eleven winners have and the past three winners (Scott Speed, Brian Scott and Aric Almirola) were all first-timers at this track.
Kurt Busch, as a rookie, won Dover’s inaugural event in 2000. Look for rookies Cole Whitt and Parker Kligerman to challenge for their first national series win. Neither has raced here before, but both sit in the Top-10 in points.
These rookies will have to deal with the likes of Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch, who will be racing against each other for the first time following their altercation at Darlington. Busch has already won two of the four NCWTS races he has entered and has an average finish of 2.2. Harvick came in fourth at Martinsville in the only Truck Series race he has competed in this season.
Busch and Ron Hornaday are the series’ most copious winners on concrete tracks and have won at all three concrete tracks: Dover, Nashville, and Bristol. The two will likely run up front all afternoon.
Defending champ, Aric Amirola will not be in the race, but keep an eye out for James Buescher who came in second last year. His season began to turn around after a fifth place finish at Nashville Superspeedway bumped him up four positions in the points to sixteenth.
Johnny Sauter currently leads the NCWTS points. Timothy Peters, Matt Crafton, Ron Hornaday, and Cole Whitt round out your Top 5.
The entry list is after the jump.

Great article. I’ll be DVRing it to watch the next morning and I’m excited for Cole Whitt’s chances at winning.

Thanks!
I think they’re pretty good. I’m just excited for a couple weeks of Truck racing in a row… I’m sick of these long breaks!

I Always Have Thought That These Long Breaks At The Beginning of the Truck Season Were Silly
Why not try to spread them out a little?
