NCWTS goes solo to the Lone Star State - The WinStar World Casino 400k Preview

Everything is bigger in Texas and so too will be the battle for that elusive cowboy hat. NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series heads to Texas Motor Speedway this Friday for the WinStar World Casino 400k.

Two drivers with plenty of worn-in hats themselves are Germain Racing teammates Todd Bodine and Brendan Gaughan. Defending champ Bodine has won four of the last five June races at the track, while Gaughan has four wins to his name as well. Bodine may have the advantage as Gaughan has been on a three-year hiatus from the series.

The WinStar World Casino 400k Stats

Laps: 167

Miles: 250.5

Capacity: 191,122

Total purse: $582,371 (2010 figures)

Defending Polesitter: Austin Dillon

Defending Champion: Todd Bodine

GASP! Kyle Busch will not be in the #18 truck this weekend! Instead, Brian Ickler will be subbing for him as Busch will be in Pocono for the 5-Hour Energy 500. In fact, none of the Cup Series regulars will be in the race. This is great news for NCWTS fans and for Truck regulars who remain winless this season.

Johnny Sauter, who has moved into the points lead, has an impressive record at this track. He finished second in both Texas races last year. Sauter still remains the only Truck Series regular to win this season and will hold steadfastly onto that fact this weekend.

Canadian Steve Arpin will be a fresh face to the series. He is replacing Brad Sweet in the No. 32 Turner Motorsports’ Chevy in his NCWTS debut.

Cole Whitt, Austin Dillon, Matt Crafton, and Timothy Peters round out your Top 5.

The entry list is after the jump.

Sometimes I hate this platform

I’ve fixed the paragraph spacing on this post 4 times and it still isn’t right. I give up.

I’m picking Gaughan for this one! Dillon will be a close second – non-cup RCR drivers seem to do well here, but when it comes to Cup they seem to tail off for some reason, anyone agree?

curious

Are you using the paragraph feature of the text editor or your keyboard? I use both depending and usually get the formatting I want. I am no professional so I probably don’t even notice if it is off a bit.

Opinions are like......, Well anyway, this is mine.

I use both too but ...

I think it has something to do with writing in word and then copying it into the SBN platform. I tell all my writers to do that because sometimes you can lose your work in the SBN platform even though they have autosave features – I know, it has happened to me more than once.

I've had to rewrite a few articles because of that.

I think notepad would be better

Word is probably your problem. The HTML word embeds probably conflicts with the BB code on the SBN site.

I'm picking Cole Whitt to win his first race.

Wish I was in Texas this weekend.

NASCAR Trucks AND the first IndyCar doubleheader since the 1970s!?! This has epic written all over it!

I really enjoy the Truck Series when Cup guys can’t make the show. I’m expecting a really good race with Dillon taking the win.

Smoke break

for the latest caution. I do love DVR :)
Been good racin’ so far, as much fender banging as they are doing you would think this was a short track. And how about that save on the restart by Sauter.

And controversy

I thought he spun the tires as soon as they restarted. Don’t like that ruling at all.

I don't like that we didn't have a race thread. =(

Sorry guys. Sometimes the puck sneaks through the goalie. We’ll have one up for Sunday.

Yeap ... that was my fault

I solely shoulder the blame for this one. I had one ready to go but I timed it to be posted for Saturday instead of Friday. The kicker about it is that I knew the race was Friday. What happened is when I went to save it and schedule the post, it was just past midnight Friday morning and I thought it was still Thursday so I scheduled it for the day after instead of the day of.

When I got home last night from the local dirt track (story later) I was very disappointed to see there was no thread for me to read and catch up on.

Sorry guys and gals.
