NCWTS rolls back into Music City - The Lucas Deep Clean 200 Preview

Though the Sprint Cup will be taking a week off before the Brickyard 400, NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series and Nationwide Series will head back to Nashville Superspeedway.  The Music City will host the Lucas Deep Clean 200 where drivers will battle it out for the prized Sam Bass-designed Gibson guitar.

Nelson Piquet Jr. and James Buescher are looking to repeat their solid finishes at Nashville Superspeedway from earlier this season.  Piquet Jr. finished second to Kyle Busch and Buescher finished fifth.

This finish began a string of good finishes for Buescher.  He has seven consecutive Top-10 finishes since the Bully Hill Vineyards 200 at the track in April. He hasn’t won a NCWTS race yet, but if he wins, he will become Nashville Superspeedway’s youngest winner.

         Laps: 150

Miles: 200

Capacity: 25,000

Total purse: $476,280 (2010 figures)

Defending Polesitter: Todd Bodine

Defending Champion: Todd Bodine

Like Iowa Speedway, a win at this Nashville Superspeedway race may be a sign of a bigger win to come: the championship. The past three winners of the Lucas Deep Clean 200 (Todd Bodine, Ron Hornaday Jr., and Johnny Benson) have gone on to win the NCWTS Championship.

ThorSport teammates Johnny Sauter and Matt Crafton are the only two drivers in the Top 5 who have wins under their belts this season. They both finished in the Top 10 at the previous Nashville Superspeedway race. With Kyle Busch out of the picture, a win for Sauter or Crafton may stretch their momentum until Homestead Miami.

Drivers doing double-duty this weekend include Elliot Sadler, Austin Dillon, Jennifer Jo Cobb, and Johnny Chapman

Catch the Lucas Deep Clean 200 this Friday night at 8:00pm ET on Speed Channel.

NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series heads to Lucas Oil Raceway on July on July 29th for the AAA Insurance 200.

The entry list is after the jump.
